  • Invoice Simple is a paid app with payments, estimates and recurring billing. Here, unlimited invoices with a pay link are free.
  • Wave is free accounting software that invoices too, with fees on online payments. Here there's no account and no fee on what your client pays.
  • Zoho Invoice gives a lot for free once you sign up. Here there's nothing to sign up for or set up.
  • invoice-generator.com makes free PDFs of many documents. Here the free invoice also comes with a link your client can pay from.

How we compare

Each comparison is a table of the things people ask about: price, whether you need an account, how clients pay, branding, and the features one side has and the other doesn't. Every cell about the other tool has a footnote to the page it came from, and the table says when we checked. Where we couldn't confirm something on their own pages, it isn't in the table.

What we don't do

One Page Invoice makes invoices and gets them paid; it deliberately stops there. There are no quotes or estimates, no recurring billing, no bookkeeping, no phone app, and we don't process card payments: the Pay button opens your own Stripe, PayPal or bank link. If you need those, one of the tools above will suit you better, and each comparison says which.

How do you keep these comparisons fair?

We read each tool's own pricing and help pages, link every claim to the page it came from, and date the check. We leave out anything we couldn't confirm, recheck at least every quarter, and each page lists what the other tool does better.

Which free invoicing tool is best?

It depends on what you need. Bookkeeping as well as invoices: Wave. A full free invoicing system with quotes and recurring billing: Zoho Invoice. Quick PDFs of many document types: invoice-generator.com. A one-page invoice with a pay link and QR code, without an account: One Page Invoice.
